Tariff Code Compliance for Shopify
Stop guessing HS and HTS codes. Keep your Shopify catalog up to date as products change.
Tariff Code Compliance watches your product catalog and helps keep HS and US HTS codes current as products and variants change. When new products, missing-code products, or code-relevant product updates need classification, the app generates reviewable code proposals, explains why each code fits, and shows rejected alternatives.
Start free, then upgrade to Catalog Watch for $29/month with 50 included code proposals.

How Catalog Watch works
Watch your catalog
Catalog Watch monitors your active Shopify products for classification health and code-relevant changes.
- Products missing HS or HTS codes
- New products that need classification
- Changed products that may need rechecking
- Product and variant customs fields that need updates
Use code proposals when classification work is needed
A code proposal is used when Tariff Code Compliance generates a new classification recommendation.
- New product classifications
- Missing-code backfills
- Manual rechecks
- Product updates that may affect classification
- Product-type exemplar classifications
Backfills use code proposals. If your catalog has many missing codes, you can classify products individually or use product-type grouping to reduce the number of proposals needed.
Example monthly charges
Small catalog
800 watched products
40 code proposals/month
Monthly charge: $29
Catalog with extra products
1,500 watched products
40 code proposals/month
Base Catalog Watch: $29
Extra watched products: 500 x $0.02 = $10
Monthly charge: $39
Catalog with proposal overage
1,000 watched products
150 code proposals/month
Base Catalog Watch: $29
Extra proposals: 100 x $0.50 = $50
Monthly charge: $79
Backfill example
1,000 watched products
500 missing-code products
Catalog Watch includes 50 code proposals.
Remaining backfill proposals: 450 x $0.50 = $225
First-month charge: $29 + $225 = $254
Subsequent months: $29 per month, plus usage
Use product-type grouping to reduce the number of proposals when many products share the same classification.
FAQ
Are Free and Catalog Watch proposals the same quality?
Yes. Free and paid proposals use the same classification engine. The Free plan is limited by quantity, not quality.
What is a watched product?
A watched product is an active Shopify product included in catalog monitoring. Catalog Watch monitors watched products for missing codes, new product creation, product and variant changes, and classification-relevant updates.
What is a code proposal?
A code proposal is a new HS or HTS classification recommendation generated by Tariff Code Compliance. Each proposal includes the recommended code, rationale, and rejected alternatives so your team can review before approving.
Do backfills count as code proposals?
Yes. If products are missing HS or HTS codes, generating classifications for those products uses code proposals. You can reduce backfill cost by grouping similar products by product type and applying one approved classification across matching products.
Does every product update use a code proposal?
No. Catalog Watch monitors product updates, but only code-relevant changes need a new proposal. Inventory-only and bookkeeping updates usually do not require a new HS or HTS code proposal.
Does the app automatically update Shopify?
You choose the operating mode. Paid plans can use auto-approval rules to apply trusted classifications for new products and updates automatically. If you prefer to keep a human in the loop, leave approvals manual and review every proposal before anything is synced back to Shopify.
Does Catalog Watch monitor tariff schedule changes?
Catalog Watch monitors your Shopify catalog as your products change. Tariff-system monitoring and automatic reclassification based on regulatory changes are not included in Catalog Watch.
